The beauty of spines – cactus close-up photos

These cactus close-up photos were taken at Zurich’s Sukkulentensammlung a good place to photograph all sorts of cactus species. They reveal the beauty of cacti despite their spines. I decided to reduce them to black and white images in order to concentrate on the shapes which at times resemble outlandish landscapes:
